Spring Breaks Scotland

If you are thinking about a spring break in Scotland, why not consider a holiday in Perthshire, a beautiful area known as big tree country. In spring the county comes alive as the winter makes way for longer hours of light and a hive of wildlife activity. In Perthshire you will see red squirrels and roe deer and will have access to some stunning scenery which you can walk, run or cycle through. As well as the natural beauty that is very apparent in the area, there are a number of activities and events that are worth experiencing whilst you are in the region during spring time.

There are a number of Highland Games that you can spectate at (or even compete) in Perthshire. Indeed, The Blair Atholl Gathering and Highland Games traditionally opens the Highland Games season at the end of May and is well worth a visit as it takes place in the beautiful grounds of the historic and famous Blair Castle. Other competitions include the fantastic cycle race, the Etape Caledonia, which sees 5000 riders cycling through Highland Perthshire every May.

For foodies, why not visit Kenmore, near Aberfeldy in April for the Celtic Food and Drink Festival. Here you can taste food and drink from the past and enjoy traditional Scottish music in a beautiful location.

Horse racing fans can enjoy a day at Perth Racecourse - the racing season opens in April with the Perth Festival Races and race days always promise to be a fantastic day out for a group of friends or family.

Those seeking an adrenaline fix can get involved in all sorts of outdoor pursuits including Kayaking, white water rafting and mountain biking. Excitingly there is a new activity on offer in 2011 in Killiecrankie near Pitlochry - Here you will find the UK's first fixed bungee jump, attached to the underside of the Garry Bridge. Give it a go - if you dare!

The less adventurous can enjoy the theatre at Pitlochry, where a full summer programme of plays begins in the spring. With so much to see and do in Perthshire, why not book your stay today?
