Annual Spring EventsSpirit of Speyside Whisky Festival: 28th April - 2nd May This fun-filled Whisky festival is celebrated each year and creates an opportunity for visitors to visit Speyside before the start of the traditional tourist high-season. The Whisky Festival invites visitors to celebrate Scotland’s national drink through an inventive and wide-ranging programme. This science festival is known as the world’s first celebration of science and technology and remains to this day one of the largest in Europe. The festival brings science to life and is committed to communicating the inspiring nature of the subject. Highlands & Islands Music and Dance Festival: 28th April – 1st May Now one of Scotland’s most prominent arts festivals, tt takes place annually in Oban, on the West coast of Scotland. There are an array of competitions in disciplines including piping, accordion, fiddle, clarsach, piano, recorder, woodwind & brass, singing, Scottish country dancing, highland dancing and choreography. Beltane Fire Festival: 30th April Celebrate the start of the summer at this unique festival on Calton hill in Edinburgh. At the end of April an ancient Celtic fertility festival is revived spectacularly in the heart of the Scottish capital. Active Arts Workshops at Pitlochry Theatre: Throughout March A programme of creative workshops for adults continues at Pitlochry Festival Theatre. Try your hand at painting, drawing or photography and release the inner artist! Arduaine Spring Festival: 6th May – 8th May The special charm of the National Trust for Scotland’s Arduaine garden will be celebrated in this festival. A host of speakers including BBC Scotland’s gardening personality Jim McColl will share their expert knowledge whilst attendees will dine and stay at the prestigious Loch Melfort Hotel. Ballater Walking Festival: 21st – 27th May A number of walks are chosen to showcase the wonderful countryside around Royal Deeside. There are walks to suit all fitness levels and the festival is always popular. Come along for an active social experience and take in some of the best scenery Scotland has to offer. |
